As a native of New Orleans, Susan began her real estate career in 1981 when she joined a local commercial brokerage firm. Through the twenty plus years of her career she has gained extensive experience in landlord representation as well as tenant representation. For the last 10 years, Susan has been a leasing agent for a New York stock exchange traded REIT that specializes in retail properties.
Susan's varied commercial real estate experience includes sales transactions for raw land, out-parcels, and commercial buildings; tenant coordination and construction; retail and office leasing, as well as shopping center and mall leasing. She has successfully been involved in the pre-leasing of newly developed retail projects as well as re-tenanting older developments.
Susan's experience involves market research and selection of sites for retail tenants, lease negotiations, as well as marketing of real estate sites for landlords. She has developed a long list of contacts and professional relations with national, regional and local tenants due to the many transactions she has completed, specifically within the Southeast region.
Throughout her career Susan has successfully leased over 2,500,000 square feet producing 600 plus transactions valued well over $100 million dollars. Her recent tenant representation work include a variety of Regional and National retailers such as: The Fresh Market, Big Lots, GNC, Applebee's Restaurants, Beneficial Finance, Rack Room Shoes, Dollar General, Jo-Ann Fabrics, The Dress Barn, The Children's Place, Parade of Shoes, Dollar Tree and Casual Corner. On the landlord side, Susan has recently represented ten strip centers ranging from 30,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet along with four enclosed mall properties with a total of two million square feet.
Over the past fifteen years Susan has been a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) specializing in the retail industry. She has earned a certificate from the ICSC School for Advanced Leasing II and has earned professional accreditation as Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS).
Susan is one of two active Louisiana licensed real estate agents who has earned the CLS designation.
